Microdermabrasion and More in Montgomery County

Clear, firm, glowing skin is a hallmark of youth and beauty. Renew the health and beauty of your skin with a variety of skin care treatments at Advanced Cosmetic Surgery & Laser Center. We offer only well-established, effective, and medically safe product lines, including Obagi®, and Kinerase®. Many patients who have had their facelift or brow lift surgeries performed by Dr. Joseph A. Rabson complete their aesthetic transformations with chemical peel treatments or microdermabrasion at our medical spa in Plymouth Meeting, convenient to Montgomery County and the greater Philadelphia area.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a gentle way to evenly and safely exfoliate the skin without chemicals or lasers. It is usually appropriate for all skin types and can help people who want to diminish fine lines and wrinkles, remove age spots on the hands or face, even out their complexions, and generally reveal fresher, brighter skin. It can also be used to improve the appearance of acne and other scars.

The type of microdermabrasion used at our Montgomery County medical spa is called MegaPeel®. During treatment, a special tool is used to exfoliate the patient's skin with a jet of tiny crystals while simultaneously vacuuming the dead skin cells away. Depending on the condition being treated and the patient's skin type, more than one microdermabrasion treatment may be recommended.

After microdermabrasion, patients are advised to avoid direct sun exposure for several days. The use of a sunscreen is recommended. To avoid irritating newly exfoliated skin, it is also best to avoid scrubs or products containing glycolic acid for 72 hours after microdermabrasion treatments.

Chemical Peel

We are pleased to be able to offer our patients a wide range of chemical peel treatments, each designed to improve a particular condition or type of skin. To learn which peel may be right for you, schedule a consultation at our medical spa in Plymouth Meeting.

The Obagi Blue Peel® System helps improve blemishes, sun damage, wrinkles, uneven pigmentation, and melasma. Some preconditioning of the skin is required. Peeling for 7 to10 days should be expected.

The Vitalize Peel® is a very superficial chemical peel that effectively reduces the visible signs of aging. You will see an improvement in skin texture and tone, a reduction in fine lines, and a more youthful appearance.

The Illuminize Peel™ increases skin glow and radiance, tightens the skin, and improves clarity, color, and texture.

The MicroPeel® is a 30-minute exfoliating chemical peel that involves no down-time. It improves skin clarity, evens out skin tone, and softens the skin.

MicroPeel® Plus reduces fine lines and discolorations. It helps acne scars and environmental damage.

Lactic acid custom peels are hour-long treatments designed to smooth and stimulate dry, aging, or dull skin. There is no down-time after these chemical peel treatments.

Glycolic custom peels stimulate wrinkled skin that has a tendency to break out.

FotoFacial™

We are pleased to be one of the few practices that have been trained and licensed to offer the FotoFacial™. This exclusive technique uses electro-optical technology to rejuvenate the skin. FotoFacial™ treatments take approximately twenty minutes. No anesthesia is needed and there is no downtime associated with the procedure. Unlike microdermabrasion and chemical peels, which are designed to remove the damaged outer layer of skin, the FotoFacial™ performs on a much deeper level. Accordingly, many individuals prefer to augment the results of their microdermabrasion or chemical peel with a rejuvenating FotoFacial™ and vice versa.

Medical Spa FAQs

What is a medical spa?

A medical spa is neither a retail business nor a day spa. Keeping your skin healthy and younger- looking is a logical extension of a plastic surgery practice. At our medical spa, we focus on providing products and treatments that are based on science and experience. We stay ahead of the learning curve to separate the reality from the hype. Many of the products we use require FDA clearance and medical supervision.

The care our patients receive at our medical spa is dramatically different from simply using over-the-counter preparations that are available elsewhere. We use the most up-to-date techniques, from laser treatments and IPL to injectables, microdermabrasion, chemical peel treatments, and personalized home skin care recommendations.

It is important to note that all care is supervised by Dr. Rabson, who cares deeply that the procedures and products employed are effective for every patient.

Who should use a medical spa?

Skin is living tissue. It has a complex structure and function. If you have a problem with your skin, you need someone with medical knowledge. Because everyone's skin is different, we review your medical history for relevant factors in order to determine the best possible treatments for you.
