The Liposuction Procedure

Liposuction can be performed in our comfortable office suite. The type of anesthesia used depends on the extent of the procedure. Depending on the patient's needs, Dr. Rabson may recommend one of the following liposuction techniques:

• Ultrasound can be used to break up the fat cell membranes during a process called cavitation to facilitate removal of the fat. A recent breakthrough is external ultrasound, which involves applying sound energy to the outside of the skin.
• The tumescent technique involves the administration of a special fluid containing anesthetic and medication into the fat layer, thereby significantly reducing bleeding and easing the removal of fat.
