The most common danger associated with liposuction is removing too much fat from a given area, or having too much liposuction done in one day. Dr. Rabson usually keeps his removal to below four or five liters (eight or nine pounds of fat) for each outpatient procedure.

The benefits for most liposuction patients usually outweigh the possible risks. Any fat removal or loss is good for the body and health. Although liposuction cannot be used for general weight reduction, it is ideal for treating unsightly bulges of fat that resist exercise and dieting. With the loss of fat through liposuction, a patient's physical appearance will surely improve, along with their confidence. Liposuction cannot be viewed as a permanent solution to fat gain. Only proper diet and exercise in combination with liposuction will yield long-term, lasting results.
