If you are interested in looking younger and healthier, a brow lift may be for you. Many of our Philadelphia area patients find that a brow lift offers exactly what they are seeking, as the surgery is less invasive than our facelift procedures yet still delivers satisfying results. If you are seeking to refresh your look and reduce the droopiness around your eyes and brows, a facelift may not be required. We can discuss your goals with you at Advanced Cosmetic Surgery and Laser Center and go over the benefits of a brow lift to determine whether the procedure is right for you. To schedule a consultation with Dr. Joseph Rabson or to learn more about brow lift surgery, please contact our Philadelphia area cosmetic surgery center today.
A brow lift, sometimes referred to as a forehead lift, raises drooping eyebrows and reduces creasing across the forehead. The elimination of frown lines and lifting of the eyebrows and eye lids results in a healthier, more youthful appearance. Dr. Rabson believes that brow lift procedures are wonderfully effective at reducing the signs of aging, and has performed numerous brow lift procedures over the course of his career.
A brow lift can be performed endoscopically via a surgical video device or with traditional instruments. Once the patient has been anesthetized, an incision is made across the width of the forehead behind the hairline. The incision allows the muscle tissue and skin to be repositioned and tightened so that the skin appears smoother and droopiness from around the eyes is reduced or eliminated. Once the desired look has been achieved, excess skin is removed, and the tissue that has been tightened is sutured closed. Because the incision is made behind the hairline, any scarring that results in inconspicuous. There are different types of brow lift procedures, and Dr. Rabson will discuss his preference during your consultation.
After surgery, we ask the patient to refrain from rigorous activity for about a week, and we recommend the patient take pain relievers (either prescribed by us or over-the-counter) if he or she feels any discomfort. Though the recovery time will depend on the patient and the scope of the procedure, brow lift surgery tends to require significantly less recovery time than facelift procedures.
The best candidates for brow lift surgery are healthy individuals who want to alter the appearance of their forehead and brows, but who have realistic expectations of cosmetic surgery. It is important to remember that, like all cosmetic surgery procedures, a brow lift is invasive. As such, there is a healing process during which the results of the procedure may not be fully evident. Having realistic expectations of the procedure allows our patients to stay positive both during and after the recovery process.
Before undergoing any cosmetic surgery, you should weigh the risks and benefits of the procedure. We strive to educate our patients on the risks and benefits of brow lift surgery at our Philadelphia area practice so that they can make informed decisions. The benefits of a brow lift include:
Patients should be aware of the potential risks of brow lift surgery, as well. Though extremely rare, infection, adverse reactions to anesthesia, extensive bleeding, numbness, and hair loss are possible. Also, the brows may come down over time. If you would like to learn more about these risks, Dr. Rabson would be happy to go over them with you in person.
