Not all breast implants are the same.
I know of several plastic surgeons in the Montgomery County and Philadelphia area who have used the PIP breast implant simply because they received them more cheaply by a sales representative. These implants did not have the safety record behind them as the Mentor implant which I have used exclusively for many years.
However, the PIP implants were never approved by the FDA and I have never used them, so my patients have nothing to worry about. The implant is made by the Poly Implant Prothese company in France which was closed down this week for using a silicone gel that was not authorized.
